History
The Provincial Government of Laguna is committed to pursue a constitutional provision under Article 2 Section 17 to establish a University and promote the right of all Lagunenses to quality education at all levels. It is also aware of its obligations to give the less privileged but talented and gifted students of Laguna, the opportunity to accommodate graduates of secondary schools to pursue vocational and higher education courses.
By virtue of Provincial Ordinance No. 1 S. 2006, the Laguna University (lu) was established on February 15, 2006 under the leadership of the good Governor Teresita S. Lazaro, the Governor of Laguna who was elected President and Chairman of the Board of Regents under Resolution No. 198-A S. 2006 dated March 29, 2006 of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Laguna.
Vision
LU is committed to establish and operate vocational, technical and higher education to accommodate graduates of secondary schools.
Mission
1. To expand and facilitate access to professional, vocational, technical and continuing education;
2. To serve as a research university in its various fields of expertise and specialization by conducting basic and applied research and development;
3. To serve as a Provincial University in cooperation with local, regional, national and global networks of colleges and universities and scholarly and professional associations in the Asia-Pacific region and around the world;
4. To develop more fully the Filipino intellect and physical capabilities for productivity and social usefulness to generate and advance human knowledge in disciplines covered by its programs;
5. To give professional training in public affairs as well as in cultural, technological, scientific and vocational fields; and
6. To offer quality education at a reasonable and affordable cost for all who qualified for admission, particularly the financially disadvantaged but talented and deserving youth.
